By the end of the Second World War, RAF
Bomber Command was in the process of
re-equipping with the Avro Lincoln
four-engined heavy bomber, derivative of
the famous Lancaster. The thinking within
the Air Ministry at the time still focused
around a heavily armed and
unpressurised bomber capable of striking
deep into the heart of enemy territory, but
the arrival of the Nuclear Age with the jet
engine and the Vickers Valiant quickly
changed all that..
